I am interested in experiencing and documenting affordable and accessible travel experiences and these are my hopes and dreams as a South African interested in travel blogging in 2019.

I got to travel a tiny bit in 2018 and all of it was through my job. I am nowhere near being economically able to travel, there is no way. But I’m never not thinking about small ways I can get to see new things, get new experience and keep the travel category of this blog alive. This means more local things, making a bigger deal of something that is just an afternoon out.

2019 Travel Wishlist
This is a wishlist made up of things I cannot afford, hence it's not in the goals section because that would be just setting myself up for failure.

Return to the Eastern Cape
I thoroughly enjoyed the Eastern Cape. She's so pretty. At the end of 2018, I applied for something, which, should I get it, would mean a chance to return to the province. Failing that opportunity, I would still like to return to the province somehow.

Add Another Province
I'm up to only three provinces (KwaZulu, Gauteng, Eastern Cape) and I'd like to add something else to my list.

Return to Durban for a proper trip
Can a ghel go to the beach? Shopping eWorkshop? Something!

Staycation in the Vaal
This just seems like it would be such a lovely thing. I see myself staying at a cute lodge and doing some things on the river.

Staycation in The North
This comes in two phases: I have my heart set on staying in the city, I just think it's a romantic thing to do as a Jonny Come to Johannesburg of my nature. The second aspect of this wishlist item would be to Airbnb in a very cute north house/flat/cottage with a swimming pool -- of course, the window for this is closing since summer is its way out.

Travel Content
So, last year I had the great idea of doing the mornings series. Only, I never ever did a second post. I kept thinking "you must do another!" but never did. So in 2019, I am recommitting myself to doing a little more (super local) travel content.

2019 Travel Goal:
Get my first passport. A passport costs, when I last checked, R400. When weighed against its 10-year shelf life, that's not a lot of money. But when I am trying to find a bit of financial comfort each month and have no plans to leave the country, it seems frivolous. So each year, since about 2016 when I applied for an African Writers residency and workshop in Kenya (and thankfully didn't get it) I always second guess parting with that R400. 2019 has to be the year I do it because who knows what the year holds for me in the way of travel opportunities? You never know, goyz!
