Oh, so you WEAR wear your clothes?

The idea behind this post is, I guess, to underscore that I'm a person who wears my wardrobe. Of course, it also speaks to my "too much or not enuf" approach to clothes. I wear things and wear them and wear them. Sometimes, I remix the outfit combinations and am amazed by what an item of clothing can do when approached differently or with a bit of curiosity. Some of the outfits -- perhaps not pictured here -- are me going for the sure thing and hoping to recapture a bit of the old magic I've once felt.

These outfit images were taken in 2018 but few of the clothes are actually from that year. These are some of the instances that demonstrate how I wear my wardrobe. What tickled me as I was making the collages is how a few of the items made crossover appearances.

The Statement t-shirt

Shop: Sho Ngwana on IG | The "Mnike" t-shirt came to me last year in something of a whim. I saw the brand on Instagram and knew I had to have one. I was even more excited to realise that one of the creators, Lebogang Tlhako, is someone I know from my early internet days whose photography I love and championed from the jump. Since then, I bought this same t-shirt in grey for my sister and have been a dedicated customer of her earrings business.

The orange skirt

Shop: MRP| This skirt was something of a throwaway purchase initially. It joined this and this skirt in my wardrobe, which are also from MRP -- the only difference being this one had more give in size, being a size 44 (20).

The Chambray trousers

Shop: Jet | I bought these at the end of 2017 and they immediately disappointed me. I had hoped they would fit looser but I still made it work, somehow. I haven't worn at all this summer, the last time I wore them was during my trip to the Eastern Cape.

The Duster

Shop: Pep| This, bought in 2016, I think, and it has added an interesting aspect to my daily outfit or has been my comfort when I have been having bad arm esteem days lol. When I bought it, there was another colourway (red and black) but in the end I'm glad I went with this colour because it's "neutral" enuf to wear often and with a lot of my clothes.

The Dress

Shop: Style Republic at Spree| This dress has been having its moment and I'm glad. There's nothing as sad buying something and not wearing it to its full potential. And for the price, I sure as hell am going to get my wear. I've previously styled it three different ways for winter.

The Pink Top

Shop: Edit at Spree| I was sceptical when I bought this top. I thought I would wear it once, maybe twice but made the purchase anyway because, as a fat shopper, after a while, my eyes get glazed over and I just want SOMETHING. The top came into my life and surprised me.

The Striped Trousers

Shop: Donna| These trousers changed my wardrobe in 2018. I wore them every week, probably, and they were so easy. I have had a post at the back of mind about this very item of clothing, being a fat shopper and the rare moments when something resonates.

There it is. These are a few of my favourite items to wear and how I have been wearing them. Missing from this post is this thrifted skirt. There aren't enuf pictures of it, which makes sense as it's one of my comfort pieces. I am likely to wear it on days I don't feel like taking pictures etc.

What are the three most-worn items in your wardrobe?
